About this event

The Graduate and Professional Student Graduation Celebration is an event hosted by the Division of Student Affairs - Hoos First to celebrate the accomplishments of graduate and professional students of First-Generation and/or Limited-Income (FGLI) backgrounds in the UVA Community throughout the 2022-2023 academic year.

We invite all graduate and professional students who identify with a broad definition of FGLI (see definitions below) and their family and friends:

  • First-Generation: Neither parent graduated from a 4-year university in the United States
  • Limited-Income: Family income at any point during K-12th grade was under the federal poverty guidelines and/or you qualified for the Pell Grant

The evening will be filled with catered desserts and UVA-themed mocktails from The Local, 360 machine, and brief remarks from the Director of Hoos First and the President of First-Generation Graduate Student Coalition (FGSC). Several raffle prizes will be distributed, including diploma frames, a Jefferson Cup, and other gifts from the UVA Bookstore.

Parking: You are welcome to purchase a hourly parking pass at the UVA Central Grounds Garage at 400 Emmet St S, Charlottesville, VA 22903 . Payments for the UVA Central Grounds Garage can be arranged online at https://parking.virginia.edu/parkmobile.
