Honor Her

Ladies, has your mother transitioned from earth? Mother’s Day season is always a time when I wish my mother was still here to celebrate and honor her. God spoke to me a few years ago, regarding this upcoming celebration for our mom’s. Please take a moment and read to the end. There are some gems in here I’m sure you don’t want to miss.

The love our mother’s brought us up on lives in and through us today. Many of us have the same characteristics our mother’s had. We see our mom’s in our daily living. Maybe in how we wear our hair, dress, or speak. Those small things are what many of us hold on to when we long for our moms.

On Sunday, May 5, 2024, we are planning to celebrate and honor mothers who have already made their transition from earth to Heaven. And all mothers still living among us on earth. This will be a great way to remember and honor all moms instead of soaking in the uncomfortable pain the Mother’s Day season can bring for some. .

The foundational scripture for this event comes from Proverbs 31:31, Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate. Yes, even in death our mother’s can be honored.

We invite you to be as creative as you can on May 5th. We are asking each lady to dress like mom. If your mom was a jeans and t-shirt kind of gal, please wear jeans and tees. If she dressed in dresses, wore a mum-mum, or hat and gloves, wear them. We are setting the atmosphere to honor mom as she was. Maybe your mom loved jackets or sweaters, or had a favorite color she wore often. Wear those items. Maybe she loved jewelry or shoes, or wore a flower in her hair. Her favorite scent perfume may be how you remember your mom? Please feel free to wear that (but don’t over spray). If your mom was in the military, or a nurse, or a profession that required her to wear a uniform please share that with us by dressing up as your mom. Ladies I think you are getting the picture by now. We want to remember those things about mama that we remember about her in our memories today.

Can you believe I have a copy of my mother’s pay sub from the 60’s? And a ponytail when she cut her long hair off. If you want to place an item on your table (or our display table) please bring that item to share with us. You may also want to leave with the ladies on your table something that’s very meaningful to you about mom. Maybe she had a favor comb, lipstick, handkerchief she carried in her purse. There are great inexpensive items at the 99 Cent Stores and Dollar Tree you can find. These are just sweet ways of sharing your mom with others. It is not mandatory.

We don’t want to leave any lady out. If your birth mom was not the person who raised you, maybe your big sister, grandmother or one of your aunts did, please let’s remember the love they showed us. If you were a foster child, or adopted, we want you to remember your guardian as well. The goal is to have all those who have gone before us remembered this Mother’s Day season, as we celebrate all mothers. We don’t want anyone left out.

I know many of you ladies are blessed to have your mom still on earth. And you would like to honor your mom while the blood is running warm in her veins. You are encouraged to join in with us, and please bring your mom if possible. Her presence and wisdom will be greatly appreciated.

I would like each lady attending to provide me with your mother’s picture. I have a few creations I will be using them for. You may also provide me with your picture (or the both of you together). The pictures DO NOT have to be professional, a snapshot will work, as long as it is clear. Black and white pictures are also acceptable. I’m looking for a variety of pictures to use.

Please print your mother’s name clearly when submitting (text or messenger), so I can be sure to have her name correctly spelled. I will also need her favorite color, and candy if you know it. Please provide it with your photo. You can simply texted me or message me your mom's picture after you have registered for the luncheon. All pictures must be submitted no later than March 31, 2024.

I will be reaching out to a few ladies to share on program a few moments about something special about their mom. Maybe your mom was a gardener, and she kept a community garden. Or maybe she taught piano lessons and one of her students we all now know in the world of entertainment. Think about sharing with me a story you believe will inspire all of us as women today. It does not need to be long (about 5 mins max).

In addition, if your mother is living, and you believe she has an inspiring short story she can share with us, please reach out to me so we can talk about this.

I’m asking you all to share this with others. Let’s do our part to encourage someone else. This would make a great gift for an aunt who doesn’t have her mother. Or a sister who you know needs the encouragement. We all know women who miss their mother’s, and possibly have no hope in Jesus Christ, because of the heavy feeling of loss and grief they are living with. Let’s change that together May 5th.
