Ever wonder why honey bees waggle around so much?

It’s all about the places they’ve been, and new sources of nectar for their hive to thrive on. Find out more about their fascinating community dynamics, life cycles, and the range of products made from their beeswax and honey at Wye Marsh.

About the Instructor:

Denise Graham has been around honey bees since she was a little girl. Her father Joe DeVillers started keeping bees in 1981. He started with only 5 hives and today has an operation with more than 200. Denise has always been involved in her father’s business, Bonnie Bee Honey, which is named after her mother. She took a keen interest in beekeeping while working at the Wye Marsh. In 2016. she took a leap of faith and became a fulltime beekeeper.

Friends of Wye Marsh is a not-for-profit charitable organization taking care of 3,000 acres of provincially significant wetlands and federal forests in the Heart of Georgian Bay. This National Wildlife Area and recognized Important Bird Area (IBA) provides habitat for a number of significant species including provincially Threatened Least Bitterns, Species of Special Concern Black Terns, and the famous Trumpeter Swans
