James Wilson and Carsten Schmidt takes you on a musical journey from Norway to Turkey to the USA.
This concert program for cello and piano offers a striking study in contrasts, bridging ancient cultural roots with modern introspection. The includes music by pioneering Amercian composer Florence Price, and Fazıl Say’s Four Cities, a vivid musical travelogue of Turkey that mimics traditional Anatolian instruments to capture both melancholic folk strains and the jazz-infused energy of seaside nightlife. It also includes the sweeping Romanticism of Edvard Grieg’s Cello Sonata in A minor, a powerhouse of Norwegian folk-inspired melodies and stormy intensity.
