Home Remedies II - Virtual Writing Workshop and In-Person Tea Blending

South Carolinians are blessed with abundance in their own backyards. Grandmothers and root doctors have been making medicines from the earth for centuries. Where do you look for healing? Share the remedies and traditions from your heritage.

This is the second of a two-part series. You can register for both or just one. Each of our virtual workshops is complimented with an in-person event across South Carolina.

On May 23, join Jacqueline Williams, founder of Passage Products, is a Gullah herablist and author in Georgetown, Free registration also includes a complimentary in-person tea blending workshop on Saturday, June 1, from 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. in Georgetown, SC.

Frequently asked questions

What can I expect from this workshop?

This is a workshop where we write for fun. This workshop is open to participants of all ages. You bring your stories and fun.

What if I'm not a writer, or I'm just learning how to write?

No worries. The workshop initiative, Communal Pen, is based on the belief that everyone is a writer and has a story to share. Our goal is to share stories that showcase the great diversity of South Carolina. If you live here, we want to hear from you.

What will happen with the stories I share?

Great question. If you decide at the end of the workshop that you would like us to archive your stories, we'll make them available in late Spring on a new website that showcases all the stories from Communal Pen workshops from the last few years. Or you can just write for you.
