About this event
Kick-off the season with a festive evening of lively carols, cozy beverages, and sweet treats with your Battery Park City community! Come see the new BPC Holiday Lights tree in Rockefeller Park. Celebrate the spirit of giving and help those in need by bringing an unwrapped gift to share with Stockings With Care. Special guest appearances by Sing Harlem Choir, and you-know-who!
Sing Harlem is the breakout musical group from Mama Foundation for the Arts. Under the direction of Ahmaya Knoelle Higginson, the choir has grown to be a highly respected and influential force in the New York gospel scene, producing not only great vocalists, but top-notch global citizens.
At its core, Sing Harlem serves as both a social impact initiative for young people that have graduated from Mama Foundation’s music training program, and as a commercial choir delivering acclaimed entertainment nationwide. All proceeds from Sing Harlem! events and performances benefit the Mama Foundation for the Arts’ music training programs, which are provided to the Harlem community tuition-free.
2021 marks the 30th year of the Stockings With Care Program!
Working with agencies citywide, 1500+ kids receive gifts through STOCKINGS WITH CARE each year at Christmas. Each of the children we serve makes 3 holiday wishes and their sponsor “Santa” buys and wraps each of these gifts for the child. All the gifts are delivered to parents and caregivers who then give them personally to their children on Christmas Day. Unlike other holiday gift drives, the parents are the heroes for older children, while the magic of Santa remains alive for the little ones. When children get the gifts they asked for, they know they are heard, they see that they matter, and they experience the joy of Christmas.
