Instructor: Attorney Barry B. Ansbacher, Board Certified in Condo & Planned Development Law

This course meets the requirement of the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation for Board Member Certification and counts as 2.0 Continuing Education Credits Hours for CAMs. Barry Ansbacher is board certified by the Florida Bar in Condominium and Planned Development Law, Construction Law, and Real Estate Law.

This course is designed for current and future board members of condominium or homeowner associations; however, you do not need to be a board member to participate. Anyone interested in learning more about their community association is also welcome to attend. Attendees will learn the legal requirements for board and membership meetings, legal duties of board members, enforcement of covenants, introduction to laws governing condominium and homeowner associations, legal requirements for voting and elections, financial reporting and budget preparation, official records requirements, dispute resolution, and the rights and responsibilities of homeowners, board members, and associations. This course has been approved by the Department of Business and Professional Regulations Division of Florida Condominiums, Timeshares, and Mobile Homes. Board members who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate of the fulfillment of their educational requirements.


Instructor: ATTORNEY BARRY B. ANSBACHER is the founding partner at Ansbacher Law. He has more than 34 years of experience in all aspects of Florida community association law, including the development of new communities and condominium associations, turnover of control to homeowners, defective construction claims, and ongoing operations of condominium and homeowner associations. Barry Ansbacher is the only attorney in the State of Florida to hold triple board certification by The Florida Bar in Real Estate Law, Construction Law and Condominium and Planned Development Law. Barry was recently elected by his peers to serve as the chairman of the Florida Bar Condominium and Planned Development Board Certification Committee.

Frequently asked questions

How soon after election or appointment is the class required?

Within 90 days after the election or appointment to the board of directors.

Who will teach the class?

The class will be taught by an Ansbacher Law attorney specializing in community association law.

Is the class live?

Yes. All of our classes are live, whether on Zoom or in-person.

Can I ask questions?

The attorney will answer questions regarding the program topics at the of the program. However, please note that this class is for general education only and is not a substitute for legal advice which should be obtained from your association's attorney.

Are there course materials?

Yes. All participants will receive a paper (in-person classes only) or electronic copy of the presentation by email after you register and before the program commences.

What if I need to cancel?

Although we do not charge, we would appreciate a timely cancellation. Most of our classes sell out, so by cancelling your registration, you allow someone on the wait list to attend.

Will I receive a certificate of attendance?

Yes. All participants will receive a course certificate after completion of the program. Current board members should provide this certificate to the association's secretary or community association manager to document the completion of the education requirement for new board members.

Will I receive continuing education credit?

Licensed community association managers will receive 2.0 ELE continuing education credits. If you provide your license number we will submit for credit on your behalf directly to the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
