About the Class
Do you fear abandonment no matter how much your partner assures you that they won't leave? Do you wish to feel settled and truly enjoy your relationships without worrying that it won't last? Most people try to heal their abandonment wounds with cognitive techniques such as traditional therapy, journaling, and other mind-based strategies, but words and thoughts are often not enough to fully shift abandonment fears.
The latest trauma research shows that the most effective way to heal abandonment trauma is through an embodied, somatic approach.
FORMAT: In this somatic therapy-style workshop, you'll be safely guided to engage your body in a process to start feeling some of the embodied shifts that are necessary to truly heal abandonment wounds. No previous somatic therapy experience is required. You will be invited to explore your abandonment fears through gentle movement, but you can opt out and observe at any time. **This is an active & interactive workshop rather than a "sit, watch & learn" workshop**
TAKEAWAYS: You'll learn how your body responds when your abandonment wounds are activated, how it prompts unhelpful reactions in your relationships, and strategies to shift those behaviors and patterns moving forward.
FAQs
FAQ: what should I bring?
All optional: journal, pen, water bottle, comfort object (stuffed animal, stress ball, etc.), ear plugs if you're sensitive to loud noises. This will be physical, so please come hydrated and fed.
FAQ: what should I wear?
Workout clothes and comfy shoes are best. You'll want to feel free to move in all directions without worrying about wardrobe malfunctions.
FAQ: any skill pre-requisites? (i.e., is this for beginners, advanced, everyone?)
Every one is welcome! This will be a body-based experience. I will be happy to suggest any modifications to align with every body.
FAQ: can I attend solo, or do I need to come with a partner?
You can come solo or partnered. You'll have the choice to engage solely with yourself, a partner (if applicable), or other people you've just met, depending on your mood and comfort level at that time.

Organized by
Hit Me Up is New York City’s curated community for poly and kink. We run meetups, parties, and teach kink with House of Yes, Caveat, Torture Garden, Dances of Vice, and other venues around the city. We got our start running small events for our friends that quickly outgrew multiple venues. Now we are working to build the kink and poly community that NYC deserves—safer, friendlier, and weirder.
