About this event

dominatrix

You’ve seen them. Glossy, whip wielding professional Dommes at parties, in porn, on the internet. Raking in cash hand over fist (literally fist), and gloating about how they use clients as furniture after maxing out someone else’s credit card for the privilege.

We all know that SW is real work, and it’s not as easy as posting a few foot pics online but what are the real, tangible risks of engaging in even casual play for pay?

Want to start a small business? Here’s how.

In this class we’ll talk about:

SESTA/FOSTA for first timers: a brief, 15 min introduction to the reason sex workers are being erased on the internet, and why it will make your life harder.

What full time SW actually do: a full breakdown of the steps and time commitment to book a client or sell content. The potential ramifications of advertising online, and how to maintain your new small business without burning out or getting audited by the IRS.

Expected costs: you already have the boots and an instagram account, you should be fine, right? The costs to getting started in this industry can be extremely high, and for no good reason. We’ll talk about lower cost methods to entry, what “sweat equity” looks like in this business, and the right/wrong things to spend your startup capital on.

Expected income: an honest look at rates, ROI, and the feast/famine that is this industry. we’ll touch on the emotional weight of money and how this industry uses cash flow to fuck with our self worth.

How to see a client tomorrow: the different paths to entry in this industry and how to use them to your advantage.

Risks beyond doxxing: a brief look at all you can lose by doing this work, and how to avoid it if at all possible.

Please note: this industry is not for the faint of heart, nor is this a “get rich quick in SW” class. Mistress Shayla Lange is an enthusiastic participant in the industry, but it is not a one size fits all option for many folks, and it comes with serious risks, both physical, financial, emotional, and spiritual (if you’re into that). This is a harm-reduction focused class, not a girlboss/gaslight/gatekeep seminar about tapping into your feminine power to control finance bros who deserved it anyway. Mistress Shayla will share anecdotes and experiences of her and the workers she knows, and it is in no way meant to glorify or endorse the industry as a whole.

Hit Me Up is New York City’s curated community for poly and kink. We run meetups, parties, and teach kink with House of Yes, Caveat, Torture Garden, Dances of Vice, and other venues around the city. We got our start running small events for our friends that quickly outgrew multiple venues. Now we are working to build the kink and poly community that NYC deserves—safer, friendlier, and weirder.
