This four-headed squadron of take-no-bullshit punk rockers explore pressing and relevant issues of gender and power equality. Made up of members from Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, Cold Beat, These Are Powers and Beach Fossils, HIT BARGAIN aims to release their debut record, Potential Maximizer, on May 11th with Buzz Records. It’s in your face, it’s bouncing off the walls, it’s banging on your brain, just take it all in. MATT MEHLAN is a Chicagoland-native artist, musician, educator and arts organizer. Matt makes music, video, and photographs in his STUUDIO, teaches at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, manages the Creative Audio Archive at ESS, and teaches babies to DJ. Based in Brooklyn for 10 years, he fronted the band Skeletons, the multimedia project Uumans, runs the record label Shinkoyo, co-founded the original Silent Barn art space, and worked for nine years at the experimental music institution Roulette, where he produced concerts, managed the archive, and made documentaries about musicians and artists for Roulette TV. Matt has performed around the world and released music on Shinkoyo, Ghostly International, Tomlab, Crammed Discs, The Social Registry, Sockets, Altin Village and Mine, and others.FORCED INTO FEMININITY: Lack of Empathy, Taste, Courtesy, Judgement or Discretion. The other half of the hard-edged, globally influenced electronic music duo Hujo, HUNTER HUSAR graces us for a high energy DJ set before and after the show. He was a founding member of the now disbanded dance-misfit group Mahjongg and has since picked up where they left off, striving to boil the artistic history down to it’s essence: dance.
