History Kids Club is an interactive program that brings children and young adults into The Historic Village at Allaire to experience life in the past first hand! Every year from March to October, Club members learn what it was like to live and work in an industrial village like The Howell Iron Works by participating in historic crafts and activities. With opportunities ranging from basket-weaving to ore-raising, there’s something on for everyone in 2024!
History Kids Club is recommended for young people ages 5 to 13. Attendees must be accompanied by an adult chaperone. Get ready for a year of adventure and excitement as we dive into the past in this fun and educational program.
Passion for Fashion: Dye Your Own Cloth
Do you dress better than a furnace worker? With huge bolts of brightly patterned fabric for sale at the Village’s General Store and fashion magazines circulating from house to house, the folks living at The Howell Iron Works in 1836 were remarkably fashion forward! Join us this October as we learn all about the pigments people used to create, alter, and repurpose cloth. Join History Kids Club on a journey to the heart of the Village as we learn about historic dress! Then, we’ll use a range of natural dyes to color our own fabrics and fibers!
