Hike with a Ranger: Geology of Mt. Hood’s North Face and Nearby Lava Flows

Join us for an exciting adventure exploring the geology of Mt. Hood’s North Face and nearby lava flows! This in-person event will be led by our knowledgeable district geologist, who will guide you through the fascinating geological features of the area. Meet us at the Laurance Lake High Ridge Trailhead for a day filled with stunning views and geological wonders. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to learn more about the natural history of Mt. Hood!

We will hike along the Laurance Lake High Ridge Trail for a 4-mile, round-trip hike, with approximately 800 feet of elevation gain. The trail is moderately challenging, narrow, and somewhat rocky in places. There are no fees at the Laurance Lake High Ridge Trailhead. We will meet near the Laurance Lake dam.
