Event description

Description

Hacktoberfest is a month-long celebration of open source software powered by GitHub and Digital Ocean. In order to empower high schools to join in this movement, our team at Hacker Fund is hosting a hack day at Codesmith for the first 50 students that claim tickets on Eventbrite.

Pre-requisite: This workshop is recommended for high school students in the Los Angeles region. Some coding experience is preferred, however not required.

Our mentors will be providing intro workshops on the following topics:

  • Intro to Open Source
  • Intro to Git
  • Intro to Pull Requests

If you are new to coding, we will provide an introduction in the beginning of the hack day to get you started.

Please bring your own laptop computer.

Snacks & lunch will be provided thanks to our supporters at GitHub.

If you are under 18, you must have your legal guardian sign the Hacker Fund Student Event Packet. This packet will be emailed to you. Please reach out to team@hacker.fund if you have any questions.

If you'd like to help support the event, you can also donate to "The Mentor Project" of Hacker Fund. All donations are tax-deductible.
