Hershey Area - All Things Diversity
Event Information
Description
Hershey Area - All Things Diversity is a free series of programs coordinated by Derry Township and The Hershey Story, The Museum on Chocolate Avenue. The March presentation is titled Understanding Religious Differences to Create a More Respectful and Inclusive Community.
In this presentation, Dr. Jeffrey Long, Professor of Religion and Asian Studies at Elizabethtown College, will cover the basics of co-existing with neighbors and colleagues of differing faith traditions and worldviews. How do we respond to religious differences in our local community in a way that makes everyone feel welcome? Major teachings and observances of diverse religious communities will be presented, as well as an overview of the religions that are practiced in central Pennsylvania. Dr. Long will be speaking both from his expertise as a scholar of religion and from his experiences in the local Hindu community.
