Welcome to HER: my Anorexia story
Come join us on Saturday, June 1st, 2024 at 7:00 PM or Sunday June 2nd, 2024 at 4:00pm at the Fasseas Whitebox at The Menomonee Club Drucker Center on North Dayton Street in Chicago, IL, USA.
HER is a faith-based contemporary dance piece exposing the realities of overcoming an eating disorder and offering the hope of healing from mental illness.
The work contains theatrical elements and displays both the gradual subconscious decline of one’s mental health and the intense struggle for recovery. Following the common narrative of many who have struggled with anorexia, HER her may provoke a visceral reaction or be triggering for audiences with an eating disorder history. Overall, the hope of this piece is to empathize with those who have struggled with negative body image, disordered eating, and societal pressures, and to offer encouragement and restoration.
HER has a run time of 30 minutes and there will be a talk-back session with the cast and choreographer after the performance.
This event promises to be a captivating and mesmerizing experience, showcasing an intriguing choreographic narrative and the beauty of Chicago dance artists.
