About this event

The Health Emergency Life Protection (HELP) course will give individuals the skills to take immediate action to help victims of medical emergencies while responders are on the way. HELP teaches the basic lifesaving skills of adult and pediatric hands-only CPR, early stroke recognition, stopping the bleed, and blocked airway emergencies for adults, children, and infants. This course includes an interactive lecture and hands-on skills education to make it informational, applicable and enjoyable for all attendees. This event is being hosted by the City of Homestead.

Frequently asked questions

Do attendees earn a Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification from this course?

No, this course is only intended to provide awareness level training so that individuals can take first steps to provide immediate care during a medical emergency. A certificate of completion from MDFR will be provided at the end of the course, as well as an AHA Family and Friends CPR certificate.

Do attendees need any previous medical training for this course?

Not at all! This course is specifically designed for individuals with no medical training or background.

Is this course physically demanding?

There is a minimal amount of physical activity required during the CPR portion of the class. You will learn and practice performing the compressions needed for hands-only CPR.
