About this event

In a world saturated with polished images and meticulously curated social media feeds, the essence of our true selves often gets buried. We’re taught to mask the messiness of life, to smooth out the edges of our stories until they fit neatly into the expectations of others. But isn’t life inherently messy, wonderfully chaotic, and brimming with unforeseen adventures? It’s this unpredictable journey that makes our existence so profoundly beautiful.

John Roedel and Michelle Francois-Walsh are thrilled to be co-facilitating this Heart Write Soul experience. This is a 6 week online opportunity welcoming each of us to embrace the wildness of your narrative, to celebrate imperfections, and to write with unguarded honesty.

Poet, writer, and comedian John Roedel, will guide you through this transformative experience with his signature blend of humor, heartfelt insights, and engaging activities. John’s approach to writing is not about crafting a perfect narrative but offering a mirror to the soul, allowing others to see their reflections within your words. Through the art forms of writing and storyteller, this experience peels away the layers of pretense to reveal the raw, untold stories that reside within us all.

Writer, Community Builder, and off-key singer, Michelle Francois-Walsh, understands the therapeutic value of writing from personal experience. Michelle utilizes LIFE as her main source of writing material - from too loud holidays with her family, to chasms of grief as she walked her mom through Cancer, to her own faith walk and all the questions that come with it. Michelle believes fiercely in the fact that creativity requires safety, using this mantra to regularly lead writing groups online in My Village Well. Michelle has witnessed first hand the power of community held in a sacred container: we show up bravely, we tell the truth, and we set ourselves free.

John Roedel is an improv comedic who "stumbled" into writing a few years ago as his life began to fall apart all around him.  During his dark night of the soul, John began to have fake conversations with "God" on Facebook to poke fun at his spiritual and personal crisis.  What began as a flippant way of making light of his doubts in the Divine turned into something he wasn’t at all prepared for: God wrote back. Since creating the popular "Hey God. Hey John." blog on Facebook three years ago, John has tackled such topics as his journey to mental health wellness, his lack of faith, the joy and pain of raising a child with autism, and grief, all in the form of a simple conversation with "God." Eventually, these conversations transformed straight into poetry that has touched hundreds of thousands of people all around the world. John’s newest book “Fitting In is For Sardines” can be found on Amazon, along with his other works.

Michelle Francois-Walsh is an educator, spiritual seeker, and creator of My Village Well. Michelle's innate use of vulnerability, a disarming sense of humor, and her contagious zest for life, have created a safe haven where individuals are seen and community is a lifeline. Using her five daughters as inspiration, Michelle develops Workshop and Retreat curriculum around topics such as: courage, positive body image, and creating healthy boundaries. Michelle fiercely believes in helping others step into their infinite Divine potential. When Michelle is not teaching or writing, she can be found dancing in her car at red lights.
