Description:

Health Yi Jin Jing Qigong series focuses on intentional movement, bodily sensation, and simple self-applied Qigong massage. This series is designed for individuals who have the capability of standing independently and are interested to expand, sustain, or complement their movement or mindfulness practice. Individuals who suffer from heartburn, indigestion, inflexibility, weak muscle tone, or stiffness may benefit from this Qigong series.


How our hybrid offerings work:

• We will schedule the class as virtual in the MyHealth at Vanderbilt Patient Portal, but you have the choice with each session if you prefer to do in-person or Telehealth.

In-person classes sessions will occur at the Osher Center for Integrative Health at Vanderbilt. We are located at 3401 West End Avenue, Suite 380, Nashville TN 37203. Parking is behind the building. We will provide parking validation. The building is owned by Highwoods Properties, and it looks like a corporate office. Should you need assistance in getting to our center, you can call 615-343-1554. Please note that our scheduling line will not be available for evening classes after 5:30pm.

Virtual class sessions will be accessible through the My Health at Vanderbilt portal (available through the internet and/or our app. More info will be provided to join class upon registration.

• You do not need to notify our center regarding in-person or virtual attendance. We are ready for you virtually or in-person! It is totally up to you.

Participants may cancel up to one week before start date without penalty, after that date, there is a 20% cancellation fee. No refund is available after the class start date.

Meet the teacher

Dr. Cindy Hui-Lio is a certified Tai Chi and Qigong instructor at the Osher Center for Integrative Health at Vanderbilt and an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Wellness at the Vanderbilt Blair School of Music. She earned her master and doctoral degrees in Instruction and Administration while obtaining a graduate certificate in Human-Technology Interaction at the University of Kentucky. Her postdoc research at the University of Kentucky Vis Center focused on surgical technology usability and training. Dr. Hui-Lio is also a certified Tuina therapist in China through the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

For over ten years at the Osher Center, Dr. Hui-Lio synthesized three decades of Tai Chi practice, continuing Tai Chi education in US and in China, self-hypnosis for pain training, mindfulness training, and diverse academic experiences in her group teaching and one-on-one consult. She is interested in facilitating the self-exploratory process of connecting with and living in the body at various phases of life for chronic health conditions and preventive care.

No, our Movement classes are not billable to insurance.

Do I need a referral to register for this class?

No referral needed for our Movement classes. Anyone can join!

What do I need for this class (clothing/props)?

If joining virtual, an exercise/yoga mat is helpful, but can be done without. We recommend wearing lose-fitting clothes. If joining in-person, Props/mat will be provided at the center, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer.
