About the Program

Healing with Joy: Positive Parenting Class for Teachers and Community Workers is a special free program for educators, non-profit workers, mental health professionals, and any community servants who are parents. Teachers have had it rough. Parents have had it rough. Parents who are teachers… how are you still going?

You’ll find more joy and meaning in your parenting as you learn in a community of educators who share similar struggles and triumphs. This six week course starts October 17, 2022. Focused on raising kids ages 2 - 12. This daily program is self-paced, engage with our activities during the time of day that works best for you!

What to Expect:

  • All teachers and youth workers are welcome. Our focus is on families of color.
  • A daily email with a short written or video lesson to support your parenting skills. You'll learn 25 tools to get better behavior from your kids and reduce yelling and stress.
  • Guided meditations and education in mindfulness to help you stay calm.
  • Lessons and action planning on the core pillars of wellness - sleep, nutrition, movement, connection, and flow.
  • Connection with a team of other teacher-parents in families of color.
  • Five optional live sessions on RingCentral (study halls and community circles).
  • One optional in-person half day retreat at Generation Thrive (Downtown Oakland) on November 5, 2022.
  • Major improvement in your kids' behavior, in feeling grounded and calm, and in the joy you experience in parenting.
  • We include anyone who is raising kids - grandparents, guardians, aunties and uncles, siblings, foster parents, and godparents are welcome.
  • You'll need about 30 minutes a day to do the work in the course.

Key Dates and Activities:

Daily Email with Self-Paced Activities

  • A daily email with a short written or video lesson to support your parenting skills. You'll learn 25 tools to get better behavior from your kids and reduce yelling and stress. You'll need about 30 minutes a day to do the activity outlined in the email. This is a self-paced course, choose the time out of your day that works best for you! Emails will come from admin@villagewellparenting.com

Virtual Live Sessions on Wednesday Evenings (Optional)

  • Participate in optional live virtual sessions. These sessions serve as community builders, study halls, and community circles. The virtual sessions take place on Wednesdays from 5:30pm - 7:00pm (PST). Dates: 10/19, 10/26, 11/2, 11/9, 11/16.

In-Person Retreat in Oakland (Optional)

  • On Saturday, November 5, we will host a half day retreat at Generation Thrive (Downtown Oakland) for in-person connection and activities to support your parenting skills and connect with other parents in the course.
