Motor City Street Dance Academy (MCSDA) is a non profit organization founded in 2016 by our Executive Director, Benito “Mav-One” Vasquez, as an academy that teaches Hip Hop, an art form created by Black/African Americans, as a culture using the 4 elements it is comprised of to educate youth in the arts: Breakdancing, Emceeing, Graffiti, and DJing. Our primary focus is youth in Detroit ages 8-24 who lack access to creative and healthy programming. The Academy is made accessible by being central to the community we serve and free for residents of Detroit.

MCSDA offers various programming inside of its physical space with an art, music and dance classrooms and provides after school satellite programming through our S.E.E.D. Program (Spreading the Elements Everywhere in Detroit). SEED utilizes our network of organizations, schools, and partners to implement programming inside of those spaces that are closer to clusters of students.
