Taste and purchase heirloom apple varieties & enter the apple-themed baking competition Saturday 10/25 at Harriton House.

Join friends and neighbors at Harriton's annual Heirloom Apple Tasting & Baking Contest on Saturday October 25th, at 2:00 p.m. The Heirloom Apple Tasting is a beloved fall event at Harriton honoring Charles Thomson's pursuit of agricultural experimentation on his estate. Numerous entries in his daily journal note the planting of apple, quince, plum, pear, and cherry trees at the turn of the 19th century. The program begins with a brief introduction to this year's selection followed by the opportunity to sample heirloom apple varieties gathered from around the region. Apples are also available for purchase by the pound while supplies last.

Plan to arrive at 2:00 p.m. for the best selection of heirloom apples.

King Arthur Baking Company has donated prizes for first, second, and third place, in two classes - Adult and Youth! To enter a sweet or savory apple-based baked good in the contest, click here: Baking Contest @ the Harriton Heirloom Apple Tasting

Drop-off contest entries between10:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon on Saturday, October 25th. No late entries allowed so that the judges have time to deliberate before the event.

The Heirloom Apple Tasting and Baking Contest benefits the Harriton Association which supports the preservation and interpretation of historic Harriton House and makes programs such as this possible.
