About this event

Join us for a special 2-weekend intensive workshop with visiting artist Jennifer Moss!
Date: Saturday and Sunday, August 9 and 10 + August 23 and 24 with 2 weeks of open studio access to weave in-between weekends!
Time: 10am-5pm (all four weekend days of workshop instruction); open studio access will be based on the schedules of the workshop participants.
Description: In this workshop students will learn strategies to expand their weaving beyond the usual limitations of four or eight harness floor looms. We will explore supplemental structures, split shed weaving, and off loom manipulations like pulled warp to break the repetitive nature of fl oor loom weaving and allow for creative expression that can be applied to fi ne art, home furnishing, or fashion. Students will each set up a loom to explore a diff erent structure/process and students will work on each loom in turn to create a set of samples exploring each technique. Support will be available for planning future personal projects using the processes explored.
Some prior weaving experience is suggested. Participants can expect support in dressing their looms, though it is helpful if they have dressed a loom at least once before.
Have questions? Email Fibers Program Manager, Jamie Boyle, at jboyle@contemporarycraft.org. For example, yes! you completed the weave one series last year? Yes, this workshop is a fabulous next step!
