Misty River Music Makers is having a guest night! Have you ever considered singing in a chorus? Why not join us for an evening of fun as we explore the joy of singing harmony together?
We'll start the evening with our featured speaker, Erin Carney, a professional singer, voice instructor, and owner of Unlock Voice Studio, Chicago. Erin will share how to unlock your voice's potential, including expanding your range, caring for your voice, and some tips and tricks when singing harmony.
Then, after we've learned about our instruments, we'll put them to use! We'll break into the following four parts and learn a song together.
Song: 59th Street Bridge Song – Feelin' Groovy
Composer: Paul Simon
Voicings: Women's Barbershop Voicings: Tenor, Lead, Baritone, Bass
Lead: Mid-range, sings mostly the melody of the song
Bass: Sings the lowest harmony. We are all about that bass!
Baritone: Sings the harmony above and below the Leads. Looking for a challenge? Try Bari
Tenor: Sings the highest harmony above the Leads. Think Soprano.
Note: When you RSVP, you'll be prompted to pick a part to sing. Then, watch for an email from sing@mistyrivermusicmakers.org with a link to an audio track. The practice track lets you hear the song and get a feel for your part. When we get together on May 12th, we'll share the sheet music, practice each part, and try to put it all together!
Not sure what part to pick? We recommend guests start with Lead because this part often sings the melody.
Sheet music will be provided at the event.
There is no charge for this event.
