About DUOKAVA:
Duokava is a vibrant musical partnership between guitarist Doris Ćosić and flutist Antonina Styczeń. Doris, a Slovenian classical guitarist and educator based in Los Angeles, has established herself in the music scene with a love for classical, flamenco, and jazz music. She earned degrees in guitar performance from the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music, where she also holds a teaching assistantship. Her accolades include first prizes at various competitions. Antonina, a flutist from Poland, brings a dynamic and experimental edge to DuoKava. With experience in styles ranging from classical to jazz to rock, Antonina's performances break boundaries and redefine the flute's possibilities. Winner of the 2018 Astral Artist National Auditions, she is known for her innovative projects and crowd-sourced performances.
Together, Doris and Antonina offer a repertoire ranging from baroque to new music, featuring contemporary American composers, Latin American music, and the music of Western and Southeastern Europe, reflecting Doris’ Balkan heritage. Duokava's collaborative spirit, virtuosity, and commitment to pushing musical boundaries continue to captivate audiences, making them a standout duo in the world of classical music.
