This training provides 4 ceu's in Harm Reduction, approved by MABPCB.
The training is an in-depth exploration of harm reduction principles and practices for professionals working in substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and recovery settings. Participants will gain foundational knowledge of harm reduction, including its focus on reducing negative consequences of substance use without requiring abstinence. Through a combination of didactic content, interactive discussion, and case study application, learners will examine evidence-based strategies such as naloxone distribution, fentanyl test strip use, safer use education, and medication-assisted treatment (MAT). Special emphasis will be placed on trauma-informed care, person-centered communication, and the essential roles of paraprofessionals in supporting client autonomy, dignity, and incremental change. By the end of the training, participants will be able to apply harm reduction approaches to enhance client outcomes, foster trust, and promote recovery within their organizational setting.
