Dr. Eddie Henderson: Uncommon Genius

Dr. Eddie Henderson: Uncommon Genius tells the remarkable life story of renowned African American jazz trumpeter and flugelhorn player Eddie Henderson. Eddie Henderson's curiosity, need for exploration, and athleticism led him down many career paths, including figure skating and dual careers in medicine and music. He was born on October 26, 1940, in New York City. His father was a singer with the Charioteers, and his mother was a dancer at the Cotton Club. At 82, Eddie Henderson continues to perform and record, cementing his legacy as one of his generation's most versatile and talented jazz musicians.

Director Biography - Michelle Bauer Carpenter

Michelle Bauer Carpenter is a Professor in the College of Arts & Media at the University of Colorado Denver. Carpenter has produced, directed, and edited award-winning documentary pieces. Her video pieces have been screened in numerous international and national film festivals and art galleries.

Tell Me Your Story

Academy Award Nominee musician Tevin Thomas comes back to New York City after many years to record a new album with his lifelong colleagues. The music sessions become an opportunity to reflect on his life and musical journey.

Children must be accompanied by an adult. Content is geared toward adults, but people of all ages are welcome. Guests can arrive at any time between 11:30am and 12pm (since this is a film screening we appreciate your timely arrival).
