Join us for an evening of the clarinet quintets of Arthur Gottschalk, from Rice University, and Mozart, featuring the Axiom String Quartet of Houston with special guest Italian clarinet virtuoso Rocco Parisi!

Rocco Parisi, born in San Pietro a Maida – Italy, studied in Holland with at the Rotterdam Conservatorium, where he gained brilliantly which is the Getuigschrift diploma in bass clarinet and in Italy gained “cum laude” the clarinet master degree at the Conservatorio “F. Ghedini” of Cuneo. He has been the winner of various international competitions, including T.I.M. Rome, the Orpheus Prize in Antwerpen, and the Concorso Internazionale di Stresa. As a soloist he has performed in several foreign countries (Germany, Turkey, Portugal, China, France, Switzerland, Spain) and at prestigious venues: Basklarinetdagen Gent, Strobel Studio Freiburg, Centrum Sztuki Wspolczenej Warsaw, Music Academyof Kracow, UHR kleinersaal Leipzig, Lisbon Music Conservatory and the Beijing Central Conservatory, “Festival Cervantino” Mexico. Parisi has recorded CDs for labels Taukay, Stradivarius, DDT, Nuova Era, AOC Classic – Edizioni Leonardi, Concerto Music-Media, Amirani Records. He is currently professor of clarinet and bass clarinet at the conservatory “Antonio Vivaldi” in Alessandria.

The Axiom Quartet is a dynamic and passionate professional ensemble based in Houston, TX. The group is known for creating and performing programs that mix classical string quartet repertoire, classical transcriptions, new compositions, and popular rock, electronic, indie, jazz and pop genres. In 2017 Axiom was named Quartet-In-Residence at the University of St. Thomas in Houston, TX. Passionate for expressive music from across the Western tradition, Axiom Quartet concerts bring in a wide range of audiences; they turn classical fans on to extraordinary popular music, while serving as classical music advocates to contemporary music fans. Most recently, the Axiom Quartet signed with Parma Recordings. The quartet's debut album will be released in March 2018. The Axiom Quartet includes violinist Dominika Dancewicz and Ingrid Gerling, violist Nina Bledsoe, and Patrick Moore, cellist.
