We are the New York Java Special Interest Group (NYJavaSIG), the largest Java Users Group in North America with 10K+  members.  We are well-known in the international technology community with monthly meetings. Plug-in Architectures for Java with Layrry and the Java Module System

The Java Module System lays the foundation for building modularized applications on the JVM. It doesn’t concern itself though with resolving module versions and obtaining modules from repositories.This is where <a href="https://github.com/moditect/layrry" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Layrry</a> comes in: an API and launcher for modularized Java applications which takes a descriptor of the module layer(s) to assemble, fetches the modules and starts up the application.Join us for this session and learn how to:<ul><li>Build Java applications using layers, e.g. providing isolation between different versions of one module.</li><li>Use <a href="https://www.jbang.dev/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">jbang</a> to launch your layered apps in no time.</li><li>Create plug-in based rich-client applications using JavaFX and Layrry, allowing to – dynamically reconfigure and update your layer hierarchy, no restarts required.</li><li>Create your own customized Layrry launcher if needed</li></ul>This is a JavaHOW hands-on workshop! Please install the following software on your laptop before the start of the session:<ul><li>Java 11 or later</li><li>Maven 3.6.3 or 3.8.1</li></ul>BIOAndres Almiray is a Java/Groovy developer and a Java Champion with more than 20 years of experience in software design and development. He has been involved in web and desktop application development since the early days of Java. Andres is a true believer in open source and has participated on popular projects like Groovy, Griffon, and DbUnit, as well as starting his own projects (Json-lib, EZMorph, GraphicsBuilder, JideBuilder). Founding member of the Griffon framework and Hackergarten community event.
