Every year, our awesome Urban Roots teens learn new skills and take on different responsibilities while working at the Conservatory. In 2023, we added beekeeping to that list. This year we are offering hands-on beekeeping classes led by our Head Beekeeper with the help of our two teen beekeepers. These classes are geared towards those who are starting out in beekeeping or just want to further their knowledge of basic beekeeping management. Seasonal topics covered will include swarm management, making increases using your own bees, raising queens, disease prevention, treatments, honey harvests, feeding and overwintering. In case of inclement weather on the Sunday of the class, the class will be moved to 2 weeks later.
Space is limited, but there will be more offerings of this type of class throughout the season.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own personal protective equipment if they have it. If not, protective equipment will also be available upon request (veils, gloves, jackets).
Attendees will be required to sign a waiver to participate in this program, since the program will include risk of insect stings and access to non-public areas of the Conservatory.

- within 48 hours --> Credit to be used by June 30th
