Pay It Forward: At LaunchSpace, we want to ensure that all members of our community are able to access the workshops and classes we offer. For this reason, we offer a Pay-It-Forward ticket giving the option for those purchasing tickets to contribute a bit more. Pay-It-Forward tickets support a scholarship for members of our community who would otherwise be unable to attend due to financial barriers.

Access to Art Scholarship: We aim to have all our workshops accessible to all. If you are interested in a financial scholarship to attend this event, let us know! 🎨✨ Apply here

Meet the Instructor: Melissa Mallet is a local artist specializing in traditional arts and crafts. Melissa is from a long line of makers and specializes in carving, leatherwork, floor loom, quilting, hand and machine sewing, and woodworking. Melissa has dazzled LaunchSpace with everything from a hand built kayak to delicate wooden flowers. Recycling, repurposing and upcycling are nothing new to Melissa! Melissa believes that passing on traditional knowledge and crafts to the next generation creates a sense of belonging and strengthens ties between generations.

Our mission is to support innovative economic development in post-industrial, semi-rural communities by providing opportunities to explore and develop hands-on skills in support of enhanced personal satisfaction, increased employment value, and business incubation to benefit individuals, schools, businesses and the broader community.

Creation: by providing workshop space and equipment for local craftspeople to produce their work, collaborate with other makers, and take classes that teach members and non-members maker-based skills.

Education: by operating a training center that serves as a satellite campus for community colleges to provide workforce development opportunities, offer job training certificates, "micro" credit courses, and access to higher education and online learning; and to serve as an extension of partnering organizations for educational events.

Incubation: by providing physical space and other supportive resources for entrepreneurs launching businesses with a focus on the creative economy.

We work with local artists, makers and educators to provide fun, creative and inspiring classes and workshops throughout the year. Please join our social media channels to stay up to date with our events.
