In this workshop you will learn different aspects of VR/AR interaction design needed to create the most immersive experiences.

This workshop will help save you hundreds of hours normally spent prototyping. Your instructors will share best practices and lessons learned across two years of experimentation and hundreds of iterations using interactive UI, physics-based interactions, and hand tracking input.

You will learn the most important considerations when designing interfaces for your first concept all the way to your first working prototype. You will learn different design perspectives to built fully functional and responsive interfaces that not only engages users, but also results in an impactful, satisfying, and immersive experience.

What you will learn:

Understand how the human brain perceives reality

Tips on how to develop a spatial computing mindset

Get an overview over locomotion and (inverse) kinematics vs physics-based interactions

Neuroscience tips and tricks to push immersion

Essential interface design principles across different product stages

Helpful design perspectives to build a fully functional and responsive interface

Meet Your Instructors

Fascinated by the endless opportunities in VR, Swiss ETH graduates Roger Kung and Dennys Kuhnert founded next-gen VR studio Holonautic in 2018. Their team of seven created Holoception, a new type of hybrid VR game available on Steam and the Oculus Store. They are also the creators of the famous Hand Physics lab (one of the most downloaded games on Sidequest, and reviewed by tested). Both instructors bring diverse expertise to the table. Roger has a degree in Economics, Life Sciences, and Computer Science, while Dennys has a degree in Bioengineering. With the viral success of their interactive experiments with Oculus Quest hand tracking, they’re excited to share their knowledge and experience with you, and help push beyond the current standards of VR to build the future of interaction design and hand tracking. .
