Hand Quilting Workshop

At Rare Bird Preserves, we craft our fruit preserves the traditional way, in copper pots with natural ingredients. While our approach is traditional, our ﬂavors are anything but. Blending seasonal fruits with herbs, flowers and other exceptional ingredients produces deliciously unique spreads. We pour our passion, creativity and care into each jar of Rare Bird Preserves, and we are sure you will taste the difference. We have just opened our first shop in Oak Park!

Rare Bird Preserves

More than cooking in the kitchen Studio, Rare Bird Preserves invites you to join us for an afternoon of hands on exploring in the art of hand quilting.
Learn the fundamentals of hand quilting in a fun, relaxing workshop environment with textile artist Caitlin Pike. You’ll learn and practice each step of the quilting process, including marking, basting, hand stitching, and binding, to make a beautiful mini quilt that can be used as a trivet or displayed with an optional hanging loop. The skills you’ll develop with this approachable project can be applied to any quilted item you can dream up, from pillows to garments to full-sized blankets.
This class will approach hand quilting from a beginners perspective but all levels are welcome to join.
All materials will be provided, including linen & cotton fabric, cotton batting and thread, and optional leather hanging loops. You’ll leave with your own one-of-a-kind hand-stitched mini quilt, as well as a beginners quilt kit (valued at $25) which includes essential tools to take you into your next projects.
