What's It All About?

Time to ditch the plastic and craft your own truly unique, sustainable and eco friendly Wooden Christmas decorations. On this fun one day course you will have the opportunity to create a number of hanging decorations, plus one or two table decorations. Using special 'incannel' gauges, along with a wooden mallet, you will hollow out wooden disks of various sizes, having previously cut your disks from longer logs. Disks can be decorated in a number of ways, and we have a huge variety of templates for those that need a little more creative guidance, and their is plenty of scope for creativity.

Y ou will be crating quality decorations that should last for many years, and will look great hanging on any tree or elsewhere, or sitting on a mantlepiece, sideboard or table - they would also make great gifts to share with others! The value of your creations should be greater than buying similar decorations from our shop!!!!

This is a great way to unwind, connect with nature and explore your more creative side. The course will run from my woodland workshop in Ghyll Wood on the fabulous Wyresdale Park estate. We can work either indoors or outdoors, dependant on the weather, and our with log burner will keep us toasty on colder days.

What you need to know

This course is suitable for anyone 18 years+ with no previous experience, or for those wishing to extend their greenwood carving skills. Young people from 10 years old (or possibly younger) can attend if they are accompanied by an adult who is also a paying participant (but please contact to discuss before booking). As with all our courses a private booking can also be made for individuals and small family or friend groups.

Please wear clothing that is suitable for the expected weather conditions and that you don't mind getting a little messy, and good fitting, sturdy footwear with a grippy sole. Refreshments will be provided but please provide your own lunch, and you can make use of the Applestore café for take out (please note that you will not have time for a sit in lunch at the café).
