Frequently asked questions

Is the course really free?

Yes. All of our instructors are volunteers from the Ellis County Ham Operators (ECHO). Each instructor loves to teach and has given their time to help further the hobby and passion of Ham Radio.

Do I really need the study guide?

Even though we walk through all the information in the class, we HIGHLY encourage everyone to have the book & study guide for the class. There is a lot of information covered, and there is not enough classroom time for everyone to retain all of it.

What is your suceess rate?

If you follow the instructors and study at home we have not had anyone fail the test. Those who have failed the exam are the ones who did not keep studying at home in between classes.

How do I take the FCC Exam?

We have partnered with an Online Testing service that will allow you to take the test at your own pace. On the first day of class, we will walk you through this registration process and help guide you to your final exam.
