Hal brings more than five decades of musical experience to his performances, weaving together
blues, rock, folk, and reggae into a distinctive sound shaped by a lifetime of singing, playing
guitar, and writing songs. Over the years, he has shared stages with an impressive roster of
nationally recognized artists, opening shows for Greg Brown, Bruce Cockburn, Patty Larkin,
Christine Lavin, and Paul Winter, and performing alongside Michelle Shocked.
His musical career has taken many forms. He has performed and emceed at New Haven's
historic Schubert Theater, and served as Program and Music Director at WKZE, an independent
radio station covering New York's mid-Hudson Valley and the Berkshire region of western
Massachusetts. During his time there, he hosted a daily, live four-hour radio show and emceed
in-station performances by Hot Tuna, Little Feat, Richie Havens, John Kay, and other nationally
known artists.
His album People Wave, released on Maine's Outer Green Records, captures the depth and
range of his musical journey. Now retired to downeast Maine, Hal has become a familiar
presence in the MDI and Hancock County music scene, performing regularly for local audiences
who appreciate both his seasoned artistry and his warm, engaging stage presence.
