We are excited to invite you to an incredible cultural celebration honoring the vibrant traditions of Haiti. "Haiti, Rhythm of Our Heartbeat: The Spirit of Konbit" will take place on May 4th from 7pm-10pm at the North Miami Beach Library, kicking off Haitian Heritage Month.

This event is brought to you by the City of North Miami Beach Mayor & Commission, The Multicultural Committee, and Juicing With Art, partnering to showcase the rich culture of the Haitian community.

This evening will be an immersive experience transporting you to the heart of Haitian culture through powerful art, captivating performances, delectable cuisine, and engaging activities. Hosted by Dr. Laine Powell with music by DJ Francois, get ready for a night to remember.

The Night's Highlights:

Art Exhibition by Zeek Mathias - This multimedia artist will showcase thought-provoking works exploring identity, culture, and belonging through diverse media.

Acoustic Musical Performance by Strings - The internationally-acclaimed band will treat attendees to infusing Spanish Classical Guitar with Afro-Caribbean melodies

Drumming by Sanbazao - Be entranced by the infectious beats of this renowned Haitian master percussionist capturing the rich rhythms of the island.

Dance by NSL Danse Ensemble - This renowned Haitian dance troupe will take the stage with mesmerizing choreography celebrating the movement and spirit of Haiti.

Poetry by Rebecca "Butterfly" Vaughns & Andre Fouad- Two celebrated poets will share their works paying tribute to Haitian culture through verse.

Theatrical Performance by Samuel Duperval - Experience a captivating theatrical piece highlighting Haitian storytelling traditions.

Live Painting by artist Willandra McGahee

Film Screening of "Sound The Tanbou" - This acclaimed short film spotlights the incredible journey and cultural impact of Haiti's people.

Authentic Haitian Cuisine - Throughout the evening, guests can savor hors d'oeuvres prepared with the vibrant flavors of traditional Haitian cuisine.

The title "Konbit" represents a core value of Haitian culture - the spirit of cooperative labor deeply rooted in community solidarity. This opening night encapsulates that essence, setting the stage for a month-long celebration of Haitian heritage.
