Description

“Hail To Our Chiefs”

Celebrating Our Chiefs and Introducing the Indiana ChIPs Chapter

We are thrilled to officially announce that “Women in IP” have joined forces with “ChIPs,” a nationwide organization dedicated to advancing women at the confluence of law, technology, and regulatory policy. With this founding of the Indianapolis ChIPs Chapter, we have the opportunity to make more meaningful connections here in Indiana, as well as to tap into a nationwide organization that shares our commitment to women’s advancement in intellectual property careers.

As the nationwide organization ChIPs launches a local chapter, Barnes & Thornburg is pleased to sponsor its kick-off event, a lively panel discussion among several accomplished professionals, titled “Chiefs in Intellectual Property.” Join us for cocktails and networking opportunities with other local women whose careers and interests involve the intersection of technology, law and policy.

Location:

Barnes & Thrornburg's Indianapolis Office
11 South Meridian Street,
Indianapolis, IN 46204

Agenda:

  • 5:30 PM - 6:00 PM – Arrivals and Welcome

  • 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM – Panel Discussion

  • 7:00 PM - 7:30 PM – Networking

Our engaging topics of discussion will include mentoring, strategies for leadership, and effective collaboration between in-house and outside counsel. The panel will be moderated by Barnes & Thornburg partner, Deborah Pollack-Milgate.

Panelists:

Marie Kerbeshian, Vice President of Technology Commercialization at Indiana University Research and Technology Corporation.

Toni Hickey, Deputy General Counsel and Chief IP Counsel at Cummins Inc.

Tonya Combs, General Counsel at Lilly Oncology and Assistant General Counsel at Eli Lilly and Company.

As the Indianapolis chapter of ChIPs launches into its first year, its leaders will create a calendar of engagement opportunities for women in intellectual property, including events focused on professional development and networking. The chapter will also undertake at least one community outreach activity and a "next gen" event for younger ChIPs members or prospective members. (CLE credit pending)

Special thank you to the Indiana Chapter planning committee: Alicia Gentile, Amber Bollman, Deborah Pollack-Milgate, and Elizabeth Shuster for organizing this event and Barnes & Thornburg for sponsoring this program.

This event is open to all members of the ChIPs Community. To become a member of ChIPs, click here.

We are a nonprofit organization that advances and connects women in technology, law and policy. We seek to accelerate innovation through diversity of thought, participation and engagement.

Founded in 2005 by seven women chiefs of intellectual property in Silicon Valley, ChIPs has over 3,000 members and nearly a dozen local chapters in the United States and abroad. The ChIPs community comes from the private sector as well as all branches of the government. Our members are engaged at the heart of current events — as active participants in the lawmaking, policymaking, judicial, advocacy and innovation processes. Participation is open to anyone who shares our mission.
