Can I come for just part of the event?
No. We are expecting a full event with a large waitlist, so if you can't make it for the full event, please be respectful and let someone else have your ticket. If you're not there by the event start time at 10am on Saturday, your ticket will be given to someone on the waitlist.
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
What should I bring to the event?
Please bring a laptop and a project idea. We encourage you to bring your own components if there is something specific that your project needs.
Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Join the slack team to chat with the organizers.
Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
Yes, let us know on slack.
What kind of projects are we building?
The goal of this weekend is to build a physical product that is connected to the internet via an app or a website. You can find some great examples of IoT (Internet of Things) projects on Hackster’s project pages. The theme is “Hack the Planet” so we’re looking for projects that deal with the environment and the future of the limit.
When the schedule says form teams, does this mean at the even we will be paired with others to work on a project?
You will be free to choose your own teams. Everyone must be on a team with a minimum of three people per team. This fosters collaboration and helps to ensure fairness.
Are the teams random?
No, you have the chance to create a team at any point before the event via slack, and there will be half an hour dedicated to team choosing at the event.
Can I bring a project I’ve already started work on?
Yes. We allow projects that have been started but are 50% or less complete.
Do I need to have a project idea to join? Can I be part of a team without bringing my own project idea)?
No. Teams can come up with an idea before the event or on Saturday before choosing hardware. We encourage everyone to bring a few ideas for projects, and it's best if you pick an idea before the event, although many people pivot halfway through the event.
Will there be housing provided?
There's no housing provided, but you're welcome to bring a sleeping bag. We recommend that if you plan on sleeping most of the night that you get a hotel or head home though since people will be up all night working and it may be noisy and crowded.
The closest subway station is Canal St.
If you drive there are plenty of garages with prices ranging from $20-$40 per day. Check out Parkwhiz: https://www.parkwhiz.co/350-west-broadway-parking/
