So many queer folks and solo parents face barriers when accessing care through fertility clinics— from not qualifying for insurance coverage due to relationship status to navigating the confusing (and homophobic) healthcare regulations regarding known donors to accessing medications, many people in our communities face barriers at every turn. Join Marea Goodman, LM, CPM (they/them), queer parent, midwife, and the founder of the PregnantTogether community, to explore how to hack the system when it comes to growing your LGBTQ+ and/or solo parent family.
Hosted by Marea Goodman, LM, CPM (they/them), a licensed midwife specializing in caring for the LGBTQ+ community from pre-conception into the first year of parenting. A graduate of the National Midwifery Institute, Marea has been licensed by the California Medical Board since 2015. Marea is also the founder of the PregnantTogether Community, a vibrant online community supporting queer folks, solo parents, and anyone who has ever felt different through TTC, pregnancy, postpartum and parenting. Marea is the co-author of the book, Baby Making for Everybody—Fertility and Family Building for LGBTQ+ and Solo Parents (touted as the What to Except When You're Expecting for non-traditional families). What they are most proud of is getting to be "mommy" to their three amazing kids.
