Hacking EdPlanning - Closing Event

IIEP, the International Institute for Educational Planning, is part of UNESCO and the only institute in the world providing a winning combination of training in educational planning, cutting edge research and in-country capacity development for educational bodies. Hackathon: 48 hours to build digital solutions for educational planning!

An automatized tool to improve teacher deployment and address disparities between urban and rural recruitment. A dashboard that would link learning outcomes and factors that influence student performance to help put learning assessment data to use. An algorithm to identify ghost teachers who are still on payroll without attending classes to free up much-needed financial resources. These are some of the ideas set to come to life in January 2021 during the first-ever IIEP-UNESCO hackathon – <a href="http://www.iiep.unesco.org/en/hacking-edplanning" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Hacking EdPlanning</a>. <h3>Join us on 31 January at 4pm UTC to see all the projects made during the event!</h3><h3></h3><h2>Why a hackathon? </h2>Everything digital has penetrated teaching and learning – but it has yet to fully integrate into the field of educational planning and management. However, IIEP experts are harnessing the power of computer science, <a href="http://www.iiep.unesco.org/en/our-expertise/geospatial-data-educational-planning-and-management" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">geospatial</a> and big data, and other types of technology to offer new solutions in the way ministries of education cater to the specific needs of the communities they serve. That’s why IIEP has teamed up with <a href="https://www.latitudes.cc/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Latitudes</a>, a tech for good network organization, to host Hacking EdPlanning. From 29-31 January 2021, this virtual hackathon will bring together developers and educational planners to create digital projects that could redefine educational planning practices. These innovative ideas – based on countries’ realities – would also offer new ways to support governments with meeting the <a href="https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/education/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal for education (SDG 4)</a>. <blockquote>“The world has less than 10 years to achieve universal quality education for all. Les technologies numériques, les données géospatiales et l'analyse de données ont le potentiel d'offrir des solutions concrètes au service des systèmes éducatifs. C'est pourquoi l'IIPE-UNESCO a décidé de réunir spécialistes du numérique, des données et spécialistes des politiques éducatives à l'occasion de son tout premier hackathon "Hacking EdPlanning" en collaboration avec l'association Latitudes. Du 29 au 31 janvier 2021, ce hackathon virtuel réunira des développeurs et des planificateurs de l'éducation pour créer des projets numériques qui pourraient redéfinir les pratiques de la planification de l'éducation. Ces idées innovantes - basées sur des cas concrets de différents pays - offriraient également de nouvelles façons d'aider les gouvernements à atteindre l'Objectif de développement durable pour l'éducation (ODD 4).<blockquote>"La promesse d'une éducation de qualité pour tous d'ici 2030 représente un énorme potentiel.
