HackAI: Introduction to Python and text as data
A hands-on introduction to using Python to analyse text data.
This workshop is designed to introduce beginners to programming in Python and how they can work with text datasets. The session will assume no background knowledge and introduce a range of key concepts to get you started.
Attendees will be sent a full setup guide for using Python through Google Colab, and a set of learning materials covering the following topics:
- Basic data types in Python
- Creating your own functions
- Working with standard data file formats
- Manipulating text as strings
- Text cleaning and searching
- Text similarity and clustering
