<h3>HackadayU is pleased to offer <a href="https://hackaday.io/project/173667-embedded-serial-buses" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"></a>Prototyping in Mechanical Engineering with instructor Will Fischer. </h3>Classes are live and will take place Tuesdays at 1pm EST (Starting January 26th). Q&amp;A will take place right after each class for questions and help from the Instructor. <a href="https://calendar.google.com/calendar/embed?src=superconference%40hackaday.io&amp;ctz=America%2FNew_York" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Link to the calendar</a> for easy timezone conversion.Overview: This fun course provides a toolkit to think about the world as a mechanical engineer does. We will be learning how to prototype using mechanical system design. Design systems such as pulleys, gears, and levers will be covered. We&#x27;ll be talking about cocktail robots, nanotechnology, and other hilarious subjects. <ul><li>Class 1: Introduction to Prototyping, Schematics, and Drawings</li><li>Class 2: Materials and Material Selection</li><li>Class 3: Fabrication, Tools, and the Machine Shop</li><li>Class 4: Fluids</li><li>Class 5: Motion, Gears, and Actuation</li></ul>Schedule: The course will consist of five sessions in total. Each section will contain a live class, followed by a live office hour where the instructors will be available for questions. All courses will be available as a recording about a month later.Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of physics, chemistry, and algebra.Materials: notebook and writing implementSoftware/ hardware: There is no additional software or hardware requiredCertificate: HackadayU is proud to offer a Certificate of Completion for this course. Students will complete a series of quizzes to receive a badge.About the instructor: Will Fischer is a serial entrepreneur, mechanical engineer, and patent agent with more than a decade of engineering experience in medical devices, material science, nanotechnology, semiconductor, robotics, and furniture. He has a BS and MME from Rice University and an MBA from University of Chicago&#x27;s Booth School of Business and resides in Berlin, Germany where he teaches classes on machining, manufacturing, and business and consults as a prototyping engineer and business strategist. His hobby has been building cocktail robots and his team has won 3 First Prizes at the San Francisco Cocktail Robotics Grand Challenge for their robots N.E.Bree-8 and The Blaster.
