#HackABetterWorld with Architects

USA for UNHCRprotects refugees and empowers them with hope and opportunity. As the only organization dedicated to raising awareness and funds in the U.S. for the UN Refugee Agency, USA for UNHCR has raised nearly $200 million to help refugees in the past five years. The Hive is USA for UNHCR's innovation lab responsible for the application of data science and machine learning to USA for UNHCR's programming. The Hive aims to transform the way Americans engage in social issues.The Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture at The City College of New Yorkis deeply committed to creating a just, sustainable and imaginative future for a rapidly urbanizing planet. Through innovative research and interdisciplinary collaboration, we seek to educate a diverse student body to become engaged professionals, both reflecting and enriching the complex communities of local and global environments. The School acts in the spirit of CCNY's historic Ephebic Oath: "We will transmit the city, not only less, but greater, better and more beautiful than it was transmitted to us."New Labis a platform for scaling frontier technologies; we champion over 700 entrepreneurs and partner with corporations, cities, and investors to catalyze innovation. The New Lab location in the Brooklyn Navy Yard dates back to 1902 and served as the primary machine shop during World Wars I and II. The New Lab founders envisioned a way to return the building to relevance, by launching New Lab in 2016, which is now home to over 130 startups.

Inviting all architects, urban planners and civic/architectural engineers to #HackABetterWorld with USA for UNHCR and the Spitzer School at CCNY! 
We are excited to open registration for a hackathon for good in New York on Saturday, October 26. A broad range of skills and experiences are welcome to participate.
Around the world, a record 70.8 million people have been forced to flee their homes due to war, conflict or persecution. Less than 1 percent of the world's refugees are ever resettled, and those who are, often face challenges adjusting in their new home countries.
We hope that you will be able to join us as we #HackABetterWorld to use your skills to create tools that might directly impact the lives of refugees.
