Habitat Connectivity Workshop

The North Pacific Landscape Conservation Cooperative (NPLCC) is hosting this meeting in support of its Pacific Northwest Landscape Conservation Design Project. Thispartner-driven, multi-stakeholder effort is an integrated, collaborative, and holistic process that is grounded in the interdisciplinary science of landscape ecology, the mission-oriented science of conservation biology, and the art of design. The process results in a science-based, spatially-explicit product that identifies targets of interest to partners, articulates measurable objectives; assesses current and projected landscape patterns and processes; and identifies a desired future condition, conservation and development trade-offs, and implementation strategies.The NPLCC is a self-directed partnership between federal agencies, states, Tribes/First Nations, non-governmental organizations, universities, and other entities. The NPLCC combines the collective science capacity, infrastructure, creativity, perspectives, and sometimes, financial resources of existing partnerships and programs to address decision support needs on a comprehensive scale.

<DIV>Please save the date for December 6th, 2016 for a Habitat Connectivity Workshop.   The North Pacific Landscape Conservation Cooperative (NPLCC), in support of their <A HREF="http://columbiacoastblueprint.org/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Pacific NW Coast Landscape Conservation Design</A> project, will convene a one-day workshop on habitat connectivity mapping within the project's focus area.  This workshop has been identified as one of the priority tasks in the <A HREF="http://columbiacoastblueprint.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Pacific-Northwest-Coast-Landscape-Conservation-Design_June15-1.pdf" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">project work plan</A>.  The emphasis of this workshop will be on terrestrial habitat connectivity and associated freshwater and riparian systems.  This event will be held at the Oregon Department of Transportation building in Portland, Oregon (123 NW Flanders).  Portions of the workshop may be open to a webinar format. </DIV>

<LI>Understand ongoing efforts in habitat connectivity in the region (both analysis and implementation)</LI>
<LI>Understand who is doing what with habitat connectivity analysis and mapping in region.  </LI>
<LI>Understand the state of the science on habitat connectivity modeling</LI>
<LI>Using this knowledge, develop the foundation of a methodology to address connectivity in the region.</LI>
