Haas Tree Planting Event
We are hosting a tree planting event at the Richmond Materials Recovery Facility (MRF).
We are hosting a tree planting event at the Richmond Materials Recovery Facility (MRF). We are partnering with the MRF because UC Berkeley hauls our landfill, composting and recycling to this location .
- Haas has committed to planting 400 trees over the next academic year to achieve the following goals:
- Educate, create awareness, and take responsibility for the effects that our materials have on these communities, including more air and water pollution, higher health issues, more carbon in the atmosphere, etc.
- In 2019 Haas printed over 400 million pages of paper and we need to plant 400 trees to offset our printing
- Planting trees is essential to help sequester carbon, increase canopies, increase communities' positive public health indicators, create shade to cool, and support biodiversity - all essential for a healthy planet and community
- Engage staff, faculty and students in these projects that make a positive impact and grow partnership for further engagements.
Location: Republic Services - Richmond Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), 101 Pittsburg Ave, Richmond, CA 94801
Date: Sunday, December 5, 2021
