Lumpen Radio, WLPN-LP, is Chicago’s newest FM radio station. WLPN-LP is operated by a community of curators, producers and DJs working to connect you with the music and ideas we think you will love. Our aim is to spotlight the hidden parts of the city, amplifying its voices and sounds. We’re here to promote an open media, unite communities, and magnify the hard work of artists, musicians, activists and cultural workers like you.WLPN is a project ofPublic Media Institute(PMI). PMI is a non-profit 501(c) 3, community based, art & culture organization located in the neighborhood of Bridgeport in the city of Chicago. PMI’s mission is to create, incubate, and sustain innovative cultural programming through the production of socially engaged projects, festivals, spaces, exhibitions, and media.

Friday, November 17 • 7PM-10PM $30 in advance, $40 @ the door; all ages •• The Gumbo Battle Benefit rolls into Co-Prosperity Sphere November 17th. This event, presented by Chef Aninn Stewart to benefit non-profit My Block, My Hood, My City, will help give local children from underserved neighborhoods chances to explore the world. The Gumbo Battle is a ticketed event and is sponsored by Kimski, Marz Community Brewing, Whiner Beer Company and Lumpen Radio.  Local Chicago chefs will compete to make the best pot of gumbo. Ticket sale includes unlimted gumbo (while it lasts), complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, chance to win a raffle prize, music, and more! My Block, My Hood, My City is an organization committed to boosting educational attainment and opening opportunities that make a difference in the lives of teens in under resourced communities.
