Overview

Creative workshop launching Guided By Materiality. Color, collage, paint with coffee & turmeric, and explore our relationship with materials

Guided By Materiality: A Creative Workshop
Wednesday, April 15 | 3:00–6:00 PM
Kent State University NYC Studio

Celebrate the launch of Guided By Materiality, the second issue in the Guided By magazine series.

This interactive gathering will bring together students and professionals to explore our relationship with the material world around us through creativity, reflection, and conversation.

Pages from the book will be available to color, collage, and interact with, inviting participants to engage directly with the ideas explored in the issue. Together we will experiment with unconventional materials—using pigments such as coffee, turmeric, spices, and other everyday elements to create with.

Chinese language speakers will also guide participants in learning to write a few Chinese characters, using these alternative materials as ink and paint.

Part workshop and part conversation, the event offers space to slow down, reflect, and reconsider the hidden stories embedded in the materials that shape our daily lives.
