About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

Ever wondered what a lovely plant or adorable critter was called? There's an app for that! Just by uploading photos or audio to the free app iNaturalist, you can learn about whatever bit of nature sparked your interest and treat your curious mind to a whole world of knowledge! Once you begin to learn about our fellow inhabitants of the natural world, every hike becomes more exciting as you eventually realize there is a wealth of information and stories written onto our living landscape in the form of critters and plants. The iNaturalist observations you make along the way also provide a service for the conservation and research community. Our "iNat." posts document the health and diversity of ecosystems, important information when considering how we can best care for the nature in and around our cities.

This event is in preparation for a BioBlitz - an event when community members document as much life (plants, animals, fungi) as possible in a given amount of time - later this month. To avoid confusion, that informaiton will be listed at the end of this announcement.
