Overview

This online class explains how to serve as a guardian for an adult or child, courtroom protocol, and getting a hearing date.

UPDATE: Legal Aid Center and its community partners will offer a presentation and one-on-one consultations with attorneys about options to avoid guardianship and court control as a senior or as a young adult with disabilities or autism. The Guardianship class offered by Nevada Legal Services, the William S. Boyd School of Law, and Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada is designed to assist individuals with establishing a new guardianship. Covered topics include, qualifications to serve as a guardian, courtroom protocol, and obtaining a hearing date, as well as completing the Petition, Order to Issue Citations, and Citations to Appear and Show Cause. Contested Termination of Guardianship is not covered in this class.

The class is offered online through Zoom (be sure to check the bottom of your emails from Eventbrite for the online meeting link).

In addition to this class, Legal Aid Center also offers a Family Law Ask-A-Lawyer program, during which you can speak with an experienced attorney over the phone about guardianship or other family law issues.
