About Growing Home
At Growing Home, we believe that everyone deserves a good job, to eat well, and to live in a vibrant, supported community. Our mission is to operate, promote, and demonstrate the use of organic urban agriculture as a vehicle for job training, employment, food access and community development in our Englewood community. We believe that farming is a unique and powerful vehicle to teach transferable job skills while also providing a therapeutic experience to individuals who are looking for personal growth and connection. Through our innovative workforce development program we’ve helped more than 500 individuals overcome the barriers created by criminal records, homelessness, or lack of job histories to become successful members of Chicago’s workforce. We are also helping to redefine local, sustainable food systems and communities as we operate Chicago's first high-production, USDA-certified organic urban farms. Focusing on community engagement, food and nutrition education, we are dedicated to the mission of improving food security in our Englewood community. For more information about our impact and model, please visit our website at growinghomeinc.org.
